ActXL is a new concept in pensions valuation software. Traditionally, pension software has been "black-box" in nature. The user provides inputs and data, and the software will provide the results. This works well if the results agree with rough checks, but as soon as there is a discrepancy, it becomes extremely difficult to pinpoint the error.

The fundamental idea behind ActXL is simple. Rather than provide a black-box system, the actuary is provided with a powerful set of tools that allows them to create their own valuation calculations.

The system is implemented as a Microsoft Excel addin written in c++. This means that you can build valuation calculations in an environment that you are familiar with, yet still achieve the peformance normally reserved for a top-end black-box valuation system.

How do I get Started?

ActXL is currently in beta release and is offered free of charge. It can be downloaded from the link on the left hand side of this page. Please ensure you read the legal note before using it.

A basic spreadsheet is included that demonstrates how you can setup a projected unit valuation using ActXL. This together with the online documentation should provide enough information to setup most valuation applications.
